Connect2health Technical Specifications
Your technical staff will want to understand Connect2health from the inside. Being able to answer their questions in advance helps speed implementation. IT will appreciate that you took the time to find this information for them, and feeding them technical details about Connect2health will eliminate a potential delay in implementing your online patient community.
Connect2health Platform and Architecture Basics
Connect2health is built on the widely deployed LAMP architecture. LAMP is an abbreviation for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.
- Linux is the operating system and the de facto choice for web servers.
- Apache is the primary web server software for most of the world's Internet sites.
- MySQL is the database that holds all Connect2health's configuration and patient information and is supported by Oracle corporation.
- PHP is the programming language and is tightly integrated into the Apache web server.
Connect2health Server Hardware
LAMP works on nearly every computer system made today, including the extremely cost-efficient X86 or X64 systems based on Intel© technologies. LAMP also runs on IBM mainframes, large centralized servers. LAMP is supported on nearly every hardware platform between these two extremes. This is important because no matter what hardware your IT staff prefers, we likely support it.
In Private Social Networks' hosted environment, we use top-quality servers from Dell, running with dual core Intel 2.4 GHz processors, 4GB of RAM and fast, 7.2k RPM SATA hard drives.
LAMP Versions for Connect2health
The following are the minimum version numbers for each of the LAMP components. Private Social Networks can deliver the entire LAMP architecture to you typically free of charge, ensuring complete compatibility. Alternately, if your IT staff prefers specific vendors or components, these are the minimum version numbers of the LAMP components they need.
| Linux: | Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5 | |
| Apache: | 2.2 | |
| MySQL: | 5.5 | |
| PHP: | 5.2 |
Connect2health Hard Drive Storage Requirements
The amount of hard drive space required depends directly on how active your patients, their families and your staff are on the Connect2health system. Based on averages from other users, anticipate needing 100 megabytes per user per month.
Connect2health Network Bandwidth Needs
Due to the nature of patient content, Connect2health needs very little bandwidth. Again, this is determined mainly by patient activity and the content that you provide to patients (for example, if you hosted videos prepared by doctors, your bandwidth needs would be larger). Anticipate an average of 50 gigabytes per month for your facility.
